Summary

Biography

David Giddens, a 6’7” guard from Atlanta, Georgia, is the newest member of the 2025-26 Cleveland State men’s basketball team. Head coach Rob Summers adds Giddens to a talented roster with two years of eligibility remaining.

“We’re thrilled to welcome David Giddens to the Viking family,” Coach Summers said. “At 6’7”, his versatility and athleticism will be a tremendous asset to our program. David’s ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor, through defense and his shooting ability aligns perfectly with our team’s style of play. We’re excited to see the impact he’ll make at Cleveland State.”

Giddens joins the Vikings after two years at Coastal Alabama Community College in Bay Minette, Alabama. Giddens played in 46 games over two seasons making 39 starts. He averaged double figures in scoring in both seasons with a combined average of 13.6 points per game. This past season, Giddens averaged over 30 minutes per game and shot 44 percent from the floor and 38 percent from three. He is a career 82 percent free throw shooter. In 2024-25 he scored in double figures 19 times with a season high of 30 points on February 20 against Lawson State on his way to being named Alabama Community College Conference Player of the Week.

Giddens helped Coastal Alabama to a 14-12 record in its first year of existence as a merged campus under one name. Giddens played his high school basketball at Tucker High School in Georgia. In his three seasons of varsity competition, he led his team to two 20-win seasons and back-to-back first-place regional finishes. Tucker finished as the no. 22 ranked team in the state his senior year.

Upon announcing his commitment Gibbons added, “I committed to CSU because they took a chance on me and believed in my abilities to contribute to something big here. I love the development plan they have for me to expand my skills on and off the court. Coach Summers has a clear vision on winning, and that made me want to come here.”
