INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team picked up its fifth 7-0 sweep in Horizon League play this season, earning the shutout victory over IU Indy on Saturday. The win also kept the Vikings perfect in Horizon League play, improving to 11-11 on the year and 7-0 in #HLTennis action.
"This was a great team win today, we were sharp in doubles and continued that into singles play," head coach
Brian Etzkin said. "Max, Nico and Carl were able to get us some quick wins to clinch the match, while we went undefeated in three sets at 1, 3 and 5. It's been a long way back to .500, but we are ready for more work as we finish out the regular season next week."
Cleveland State got out to the early 1-0 advantage after picking up the doubles point, with

Cole Chappell posting a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles and
Nico Jamison/
Maxime Aremon earning a matching 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot.
Aremon and Jamison then gave the Vikings a quick 3-0 edge picking up wins at No. 6 singles (6-2, 6-1) and No. 4 singles (6-3, 6-3), respectively.
Cleveland State's clinching point came from Gedlitschka at the No. 2 spot, as he earned a 6-0, 7-6(0) win on the day.
The Vikings also got singles wins from
Lincoln Battle at No. 1 (6-4, 4-6, 6-2),
Devin Boyer at No. 5 (4-6, 6-2, 6-2) and Chappell at No. 3 (3-6, 7-6(9), 1-0(6).
Cleveland State's regular season finale will take place on the road next weekend, traveling to Youngstown State on Saturday, April 19.
