Opening Whistle
The Vikings start the 2025 season on the road at Ohio State with a noon faceoff from Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

Last Season Look Back
Cleveland State is coming off a historic 2024 season in which the team made its first-ever postseason and defeated Bellarmine in the ASUN quarterfinals, 15-12. CSU ended the year with a 9-8 record, setting the program record for wins in a season. For their efforts, Andy German became the programs first Coach of the Year.

Key Returners
Griffin Valli will anchor the defense after earning Second Team and All-Freshman recognition a season ago. Valli played in all 17 games, leading the team in ground balls (46) and caused turnovers (13).

Wyatt Robertson also picked up All-Freshman honors at attack after starting all 17 contests. Robertson led the team in scoring with 28 goals and was second in total points with 34. In the ASUN Quarterfinals, he tied the program record for total points with eight on five goals and three assists.

About Ohio State
The Buckeyes are 1-1 on the year after losing in their season opener to Utah 19-13 before defeating conference foe, Detroit, 14-4 on Tuesday. Garrett Haas leads the attack with six goals and two assists. Griffin Turner has dished out six assists, and Jack Oldman is 18-of-34 in the faceoff circle. Cullen Brown has forced a team-best seven turnovers, and Caleb Fyock has made 17 saves.

All-Time Series
Ohio State is 6-0 with all the games occurring in Columbus. Last season, the Green and White fell 13-6 with Robertson boasting a hat-trick and Alex Van Voorhis finding the back of the net twice. Justin Dalum made 12 saves in the game.

The Numbers

• This is the ninth season of CSU lacrosse and sixth under coach German.
• Cleveland State is 40-63 all-time and 23-37 under coach German.
• The Vikings are 1-8 in season openers with their first coming last season at VMI, 12-11 in overtime.

On This Date
Tomorrow is the second time the Green and White has played on February 8, with the last coming in 2020 at Michigan. This will be the fourth latest season opener in program history.
 
A Helping Hand
Alex Van Voorhis starts the season with 29 career assists which is fifth most in program history. Michael Wilson holds the top mark with 62 established from 2018-21.

Getting it Done in the Circle
Robbie Stewart begins the year with 116 career faceoff wins which is the fourth most all-time. Danny Tesler leads the way with 478 set from 2017-20.

The Start of a New Conference
Cleveland State will begin its new journey in the NEC after spending the past three seasons in the ASUN. The NEC makes its return after stopping in 2022 and will feature eight teams, including three former members of the ASUN: Robert Morris, Cleveland State, and Detroit.

Robert Morris was picked as the favorite to win the conference after receiving three first-place votes. The Vikings were right behind with two first-place votes, and LIU was third with two first-place votes. VMI claimed the final first-place tally to come in fourth.

The top four teams in the regular season standings advance to the NEC Tournament from May 1-3, which will be hosted by the regular season champion.

A Look Ahead
Cleveland State will head to the reigning back-to-back National Champions, No. 1 Notre Dame on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m.
