CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will continue its fall slate this weekend, hosting the inaugural Horizon League Individual Championship Friday, September 27 – Sunday, September 29 at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
This weekend's event will feature a 32-Player Singles Draw and a 16-Team Doubles Draw, with the winner from both brackets earning an entry into the ITA Conference Masters Championship, which will be hosted November 7-10 in San Deigo, Calif.
Friday and Saturday will including two rounds of singles and one round of doubles, while Sunday's action will feature the singles final along with the doubles semifinals and final.
Cleveland State will be one of seven Horizon League teams competing, joining Belmont, IU Indy, Northern Kentucky, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, and Youngstown State.
The Vikings will be represented by
Lincoln Battle,
Nico Jamison,
Carl Gedlitschka, and
Devin Boyer in the singles draw, while the teams of Battle/Gedlitschka and Jamison/Boyer will compete in the doubles draw.
Last time out, the Vikings opened the 2024 fall slate at the WMU Invite and ITA All-American Championship, with
Nico Jamison and
Cole Chappell both earning spots on the All-Tournament Team at the WMU Invite. In addition,
Lincoln Battle advanced to the second round of the Pre-Qualifying Draw, marking the sixth straight year that Cleveland State was represented in the field.
