CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will be back in action with two matches this weekend, hosting St. Bonaventure on Friday and traveling to Buffalo on Sunday.

The Vikings split their matches in Chicago last weekend, picking up a 4-3 victory over DePaul, while dropping a hard-fought 5-2 decision at Northwestern. Northwestern marked the second of three Power 4 opponents for the Vikings this spring.
Vikings At The MMTP
Friday's match against St. Bonaventure will be the third of 12 scheduled home contests for the Vikings this spring, a place where they stand at 2-0 through the early part of the year. Over the last four seasons, Cleveland State has combined for a 31-5 record when playing at the MMTP.
Battle Named #HLTennis Singles Player of the Week
After going 2-0 at the top of the lineup last weekend,
Lincoln Battle was named the Horizon League Singles Player of the Week. Battle picked up straight-set wins against DePaul and Northwestern, with the win over Northwestern marking his second Power 4 win of the spring season.

Carl Gedlitschka added to his career win total last weekend, picking up a straight-set win against Northwestern to mark his 76
th career victory. Gedlitschka, who currently ranks 10
th on the CSU Singles Wins List, is one of 12 Vikings all-time with 70+ wins and needs five more wins to move into ninth place on the list.
#HLTennis Preseason Poll
Earlier this month the Vikings were selected to finish first in the Horizon League North Division, marking the fourth straight year that Cleveland State has been tabbed the North Division favorite. The Vikings picked up four first place votes and 16 points in the preseason poll.

The Vikings will be under the direction of 24-year head coach
Brian Etzkin, who enters the 2026 spring campaign as the all-time winningest coach in program history with 347 wins.
