INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After picking up a pair of wins at the top of the singles lineup,
Lincoln Battle has been named the Horizon League Singles Player of the Week. This marks the second straight week that Cleveland State has been recognized, while it marks the first weekly singles honor.
Last time out, the Vikings split their contests in Chicago, including a 4-3 victory over DePaul.
Battle went 2-0 at No. 1 singles last week, picking up wins over DePaul and Northwestern. To open the week, he posted a 7-6(2), 7-5 win against DePaul and followed that up with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Northwestern.
The win over Northwestern marked his second Power 4 win of the spring season.
For the spring, Battle owns a team-best 4-1 singles record, while he now has double-digit wins on the year, standing at 11-6.
