CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team continued play at the Viking Invitational Saturday, with
Cole Chappell advancing to the semifinals of the main singles draw.
Chappell picked up a 3-6, ret. victory in his round of 16 match, before earning a 6-1, 5-7, 1-0(9) win in the quarterfinals. Chappell will now face Patrick Joss of Butler in tomorrow's semifinal matchup.
Devin Boyer also earned a spot in the main draw quarterfinals, picking up an 0-6, 7-6, 1-0(5) victory over Butler's Nico Arts in the round of 16. Boyer then came up short in his quarterfinal contest, dropping a 6-4, 6-2 decision to Holy Cross' Perry Gregg.
In doubles, the CSU tandem of
Cole Chappell and
Maxime Aremon picked up a 7-5 victory in the quarterfinal contest, before dropping a 7-6(4) decision against Bellarmine in the semifinals.
Play at the Viking Invitational concludes tomorrow, with play beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
