CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team had a strong start to the Viking Invitational Friday, putting four players into the round of 16 in the main singles draw and two teams into the quarterfinals of the main doubles draw.
In singles, the Vikings picked up six wins on the day, including
Devin Boyer,
Ty Rothchild,
Maxime Aremon, and
Cole Chappell all advancing to the round of 16.
In doubles, Cleveland State's two teams of
Cole Chappell/
Maxime Aremon and
Devin Boyer/
Ty Rothchild both advanced to the quarterfinals. Chappell and Aremon picked up a 6-1 victory over IU Indy in the first round and a 7-5 win over Youngstown State in the second round, while Boyer and Rothchild earned a 6-4 win over Butler in their second round match.
Action at the Viking Invitational will continue tomorrow, with doubles beginning at 9:00 a.m.
