Cleveland, OH-Chaz Watson is the newest member of the Cleveland State men's basketball team, Head Coach Daniyal Robinson announced today. Watson joins Tyler Spratt and Reece Robinson as the third member of the 2023-24 recruiting class to sign with the Vikings.
Watson hails from Lee's Summit, MO and Lee's Summit West High School. Watson is a shooting guard who was a Missouri Class 6A All-State selection as a junior. He also played club basketball for KC Run GMC.
"We are excited to announce the signing of Chaz Watson to our 2024 recruiting class," said Coach Robinson. "Chaz is a young and incredibly talented guard that I've had the opportunity to watch and develop over the past couple of years. Chaz has proven to be a lights out shooter throughout his career, and plays with tremendous confidence at the guard position. Chaz has a bright, infectious personality that will fit in seamlessly in our locker room. We are looking forward to seeing Chaz's continued growth and success here at Cleveland State, and we have no doubt that he will play a vital role in our team's future. We welcome Chaz, his mother Nanci, and his sister, Rayn to the Viking Family."
"Chaz is someone who has worked hard on his craft and it has shown," added KC Run GMC Coach LJ Goolsby. "He is a high-level shooter and physical defender that will bring a lot of value to Cleveland State."
