Gomillion & Denisco Added to the Cleveland State Men's Basketball Staff

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State head coach Rob Summers announced the additions of Tre Gomillion and Drew Denisco to the coaching staff. Gomillion returns as an assistant coach and Denisco will serve as Chief of Staff.

Gomillion is very familiar with Cleveland State and the program as he returns after playing three seasons (2019-22) under former head coach Dennis Gates and then assistant coach Summers.

"I'm very grateful and excited to be back in Cleveland alongside great people," said Gomillion. "I am thankful to Coach Summers and the rest of the staff for this opportunity and welcoming me back with open arms. I am looking forward to bringing another Horizon League championship back to Cleveland State!""

Gomillion recently served under coach Gates at the University of Missouri as a graduate assistant for two seasons after playing his final season with the Tigers. In the 2022-23 season, he served as a team captain, guiding the Tiger to the NCAA Tournament.

As a graduate assistant for Missouri, Gomillion played a role in the Tigers making an NCAA Tournament appearance and having four All-SEC honorees.

As a player for the Vikings, Gomillion was a two-time Horizon League All-Defensive Player, the 2021 Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year, and a 2022 Third Team All-League honoree.

Gomillion obtained his bachelor's degree in communications from Cleveland State in 2022 and his master's degree from Missouri.

Denisco joins the program after serving five seasons as an assistant coach at Eastern Michigan University. In his time with the Eagles, Denisco worked with the wing players, including Emoni Bates, who was drafted 49th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2023 NBA draft.

"I'm really thankful for the chance to come back to Cleveland State and join Coach Summers' staff," said Denisco. "Cleveland is a special place to me; it's where I got my start as a graduate assistant, and it's where I met my wife and started our family. It really feels like a full circle moment for us. I believe in what Coach Summers is building, and I'm excited to get to work and be part of it."

Prior to EMU, Denisco spent six seasons as the video coordinator for the Michigan State men's basketball program, in which the Spartans won two Big Ten Tournament titles and earned five NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the 2019 NCAA Final Four.

Denisco also has ties to the professional game, working three seasons as the assistant video coordinator for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He capped off his time with the Cavs by winning the NBA Eastern Conference Championship in 2015. In his time with the organization, he worked under head coaches Byron Scott, Mike Scott, David Blatt, and assistant coach Ty Lue. Notable players in his time were LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love.

Denisco began his coaching career at the University of Akron for two seasons, starting as a graduate manager before transitioning to a video coordinator role. He also spent one season as a graduate assistant at Cleveland State.

Denisco earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Wittenberg University in 2009 and then obtained his master's degree in sport administration from Akron in 2012. He currently resides in Northeast Ohio with his wife, Allison, along with daughter Jordan, and two sons, Carter and Tyler.
