Cleveland State held at least a six-point lead throughout the rest of the first half, as Winton scored 17 of her 26 points during the first 20 minutes of play. The Panthers opened the second half on a 7-2 run, closing the gap to seven points at 40-33 at the 15:35 mark. CSU responded with six straight points on a pair of Winton jumpers and two Adams free-throws to extend their lead to 13 (46-33) with 13:10 remaining.

Over the next six minutes CSU went on a 15-6 run, including eight points from Coleman to gain a 23-point advantage (62-39), their largest lead of the night.

Milwaukee forced CSU into five turnovers and four missed shots over the next 4:48 though, as the Panthers posted 15 straight points to come within eight at 62-54 with 1:24 left to play. After being held scoreless for a five-minute stretch, Green gave the Vikings a nine-point lead (63-54) with just over one minute left. CSU held the lead for the rest of the contest, coming away with the 68-58 victory.
