Final Stats
CLEVELAND -
Robert Morris broke open a close game with an 18-7 run to start the second half, en route to a 65-54 victory over Cleveland State on Wednesday night in the Wolstein Center. The Vikings dropped their final non-conference game to fall to 2-9, while the Colonials improved to 5-4.
CSU trailed just 35-28 at the break, but found itself behind by 18 at the 11:22 mark and could not recover.
The Vikings' season-high 17 steals were offset by 27 turnovers. Both teams struggled from the floor as CSU went just 21-for-60 (35.0 percent) while RMU was not much better at 25-for-65 (38.5 percent).
"I thought we did a nice job of forcing Robert Morris to turn the ball over, but we didn't take care of the ball and just couldn't knock down our open looks tonight," CSU head coach Kate Peterson said. "We just have to keep working hard and good things will happen. Saturday starts a whole new season with the beginning of league play."
Omega Harrington led the Vikings with 14 points, while Erin Martin added 12 points, six rebounds, six steals and three assists. Chenara Wilson finished with career-highs for both points (11) and rebounds (five).
Sugeiry Monsac and Natasha Summerville led four Colonials in double-figures with 14 points each. Monsac added a game-high 10 rebounds for her 22nd career double-double.
Cleveland State will attempt to snap an eight-game losing streak as the Vikings open Horizon League play at home against Detroit on Dec. 31 at 1:00 p.m.
