YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team closed out regular season play Friday, picking up a 5-2 victory at Youngstown State.
Despite dropping the doubles point, the Vikings were able to quickly swing the momentum into their favor, as
Lincoln Battle and
Carl Gedlitschka both picked up a pair of quick wins after both of their opponents retired.
Cleveland State then extended its lead to 3-1 following a 7-6, 6-4 victory from
Maxime Aremon at the No. 4 spot
Although the Penguins were able to close the gap to 3-2 following a win at No. 5 singles,
Devin Boyer clinched the match for the Vikings with a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 come-from-behind three-set victory at No. 6 singles.
Nico Jamison then added the final point on the board with a 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 victory at No. 3 singles, putting the final score at 5-2 CSU.
Next up for the Vikings will be a first round contest in the Horizon League Tournament, Friday, April 24.
