CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State head golf coach
Steve Weir announced an addition to the roster for the 2026 spring campaign, as
Gavin Leen (Dayton, Ohio) will join the Vikings for the remainder of the season.
Leen joins the Vikings following a high school career at Archbishop Alter, where he was part of two State Championship teams in golf and basketball.
Earning Second Team All-League honors in 2023, Leen played on the Golf Week Junior Tour, posting a trio of top-25 finishes. In addition, he placed second at the Walker Jones Cup at Shale Creek Golf Club.
Off the course, he was a four-year honor roll member, and plans to major in health sciences.
Leen on Why CSU: "I chose Cleveland State because of the welcoming presence that the staff, players, and coaches showed from the very beginning. They made me feel genuinely valued, not just as a golfer, but as a person. The coaches talked with me about how I could grow in the program, and the players were just as supportive and encouraging. It quickly felt like a place where I truly belonged. Since then, they've continued to show that same support, which has only made me more excited about the opportunity to compete and develop with the Cleveland State golf team."
