DAYTON, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team wrapped up its current roadswing Saturday, dropping a hard-fought 4-3 match at Dayton.
The Vikings were able to pick up the early doubles point, getting a 6-3 win from
Lincoln Battle/
Carl Gedlitschka at the top of the lineup and a 6-4 win from
Maxime Aremon/
Tristan Stine at the No. 2 spot.
With the win at No. 1 doubles, Battle and Gedlitschka picked up their second ranked win of the year, as the Dayton tandem was ranked No. 24 in the most recent doubles teams rankings.
Aremon then gave the Vikings a 2-0 lead after picking up a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles, while Gedlitschka put Cleveland State up 3-0 following a 6-3, 6-0 win at the No. 3 spot.
Despite getting out to the quick 3-0 start, that would be all the points the Vikings would get on the day, as Dayton closed out the match by picking up wins on the final four singles courts.
The Vikings will be back at the MMTP next week, hosting UIC and Mercyhurst in a doubleheader on Thursday.
