CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team opened its fall slate Friday and Saturday, including
Lincoln Battle advancing in the PreQualifying Draw at the ITA All-American Championships.
Battle, who is playing in the ITA All-American Championships for the second season, earned a straight-set victory over Eric Padgham of Arkansas in the first round, and will now play Memphis' Maxime Dubouch in a second round matchup Sunday morning.
In addition to Battle, five other Vikings opened their seasons at the WMU Invite, including
Devin Boyer who went 2-0 in singles play on the first day.
Along with Boyer,
Nico Jamison,
Maxime Aremon, and
Cole Chappell also picked up one singles win on Friday, while freshman
Tristan Stine earned his first collegiate win over Butler's Arnesh Singh.
