Batavia, OH-The Cleveland State men's golf team closed the 36-hole NKU Jewell Invitational with a seventh-place team finish on Tuesday. The Vikings posted an 11-over par 295 amidst tough scoring conditions. Cleveland State finished at 15-over par for the tournament as a team. Wright State took home the team title with a 5-over par team total.
Brody Simms and
Alex Anderson posted the best individual finishes for the Vikings. Both finished the tournament at 2-over par in a tie for 17
th place. Simms carded the lone round in red numbers for the Vikings on Tuesday finishing with a 1-under 70. He recorded three birdies against two bogeys to finish the round under par. Anderson, playing as an individual, recorded three birdies in a 3-over 74 to finish the tournament at 2-over. Anderson recorded his best finish of the season and Simms posted his fourth top-25 finish of the year.
Mason Frazier carded a 4-over 75 on day two and finished 3-over for the tournament in a tie for 23
rd place.
Dillon Pendergast also carded a 4-over 75 and closed in a tie for 29
th place at 4-over for the tournament.
Rounding out the lineup,
Andrew Kaye posted a 4-over 75 to finish at 6-over for the tournament. Kaye posted a T-44 individual finish.
Dominik Cosic finished with an 8-over 79 to finish tied for 72
nd at 12-over par.
Ryan Dinan closed with a 6-over 77 and ended up tied for 51
st in the individual race.
Ben Scheeff also posted a 77 in the second round and finished at 17-over in 80
th position. Both Dinan and Scheeff competed as individuals.
Cleveland State will be in action one more time in the regular season at the Wright State Invitational scheduled for Monday and Tuesday of next week. Following that will be the Horizon League Championship at Mission Resort in Florida scheduled to begin April 19.
