BATAVIA, Ohio – The Cleveland State golf team opened up play at the NKU Jewell Invitational Monday, playing 36 holes at the Elks Run Golf Course. Through the first day of competition, the Vikings are sitting eighth in the team standings.
Cleveland State combined for 30 birdies on the day, including seven from
Brody Simms and six from
Dillon Pendergast and
Ryan Dinan.
Brody Simms currently sits T-19 at five-over par following rounds of 72 and 75, while
Dominik Cosic is T-47 at nine-over par after posting rounds of 79, 72. Simms recorded four of his seven birdies during his second round of play.
Dillon Pendergast (+10) and
Ryan Dinan (+10) are both T-56 in the individual standings, while
Trace Gibson sits at T-67 (+14).
In addition,
Ben Scheeff (83
rd) and
Gavin Leen (86
th) are playing as individuals, with Leen making his Cleveland State debut after joining the Vikings in January.
The Vikings will close out play at the NKU Jewell Invitational tomorrow, with the final round of 18.
