Cleveland State Set To Host Wright State In Midweek Matchup

SETTING THE SCENE
The Cleveland State women's basketball team will host its final regular season home game on Wednesday, February 26, welcoming Wright State to the Wolstein Center for a 7:00 p.m. contest. Entering Wednesday's contest, the Vikings are 22-7 overall this season and 13-5 in Horizon League play, while Wright State is currently 9-19 on the year and 7-11 in league action.

Wednesday's game will mark the 88th meeting between the two teams, with Cleveland State holding a slight 44-43 edge in the all-time series. Cleveland State is currently on a six-game win streak against the Raiders, including an 85-71 victory back in December.

Cleveland State enters Wednesday's contest with a 13-5 record in Horizon League play this season, currently sitting in third place in the #HLWBB standings. Entering the 12th week of league action, the Vikings continue to be one of just three teams with double-digit #HLWBB wins on the year.

With 24 points in the win over Robert Morris last time out, Mickayla Perdue recorded her 15th 20-point performance of the season - a mark that leads all #HLWBB players. Through 29 games played, Perdue is averaging a league-best 19.8 points per game, and ranks 11th nationally with 575 total points on the season.
 
…PERDUE ON SINGLE-SEASON SCORING LIST
Following the 24-point effort against RMU last week, Mickayla Perdue now ranks eighth on the CSU Single-Season Scoring List with her 575 total points on the year. Perdue, who has eclipsed 575 points in each of her first two seasons with the Vikings, is one of three players to hold multiple spots on the top-10 list after finishing sixth with her 607 points that she combined for last season.
 
LEO ON CSU SCORING LIST
Destiny Leo continues to add to her career point total, entering Wednesday's contest with 1,874 total points. After moving into second place on the CSU Scoring List earlier this season, Leo is now just 26 points shy of becoming the second Viking all-time to reach the 1,900-point plateau. So far this season, Leo is averaging 10.9 points per game, ranking 17th among #HLWBB players.
 
…LEO FROM BEHIND-THE-ARC
As one of the best three-point shooters in the Horizon League, Destiny Leo enters Wednesday's game with 81 three-point field goals on the season - a mark that ranks fifth in the CSU Single-Season Record Book. Leo, who is chasing down her own record of 90 three-pointers in a single-season, is one of just two #HLWBB players with 80+ shots from behind-the-arc this season. For her career, Leo sits at the top of the CSU Career Record Book with 305 three-pointers, while also averaging a program-best .394 field goal percentage on her career.
 
FEGAN HAS CAREER-NIGHT AGAINST RMU
Last time out, Macey Fegan was one of three Vikings to finish with double-digit points, recording a career-high 14 points in the win over RMU. Fegan's 14 points included a trio of three-pointers, which also marked a career-high for the sophomore. Since entering the starting lineup back in November, Fegan has been averaging 5.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, while combining for 59 total assists.
 
REISMA EFFICIENT FROM THE FIELD
Jordana Reisma continues to be one of the most efficient shooters among Division I players, entering Wednesday's contest against Wright State with a .676 field goal percentage on the year. Reisma, who currently ranks second among all Division I players in field goal percentage, is shooting 163-for-241 on the year, while she currently sits at the top of the CSU Career Record Book with a .599 clip (385-642) for her career.
 
CLEVELAND STATE RECORDS 20-WIN SEASON
With the 79-58 victory over Oakland earlier this month, the Vikings notched their 20th win of the 2024-25 campaign, marking the fourth straight 20-win season and the fifth over the last six years. Cleveland State became the third #HLWBB team to reach the 20-win plateau this season, while the Vikings enter Wednesday's game with 22 total wins on the year, marking the fourth straight season with 22+ victories.
 
CLEVELAND STATE ON THE BOARDS
The Vikings continue to be the top rebounding team in the league, averaging 38.3 boards per game through 29 games played. Cleveland State also holds a league-best +7.4 rebounding margin, and has outrebounded its opponent 23 times so far this year. Cleveland State's current rebounding margin of +7.4 sits at the top of the Single-Season Record Book, while the Vikings' 833 defensive boards so far this season ranks fifth.

Through 29 games played this season, the Vikings are tied for fifth nationally averaging 16.79 free throws made per game. For the season, Cleveland State has converted a league-best 487 free throws, including 20+ free throws during seven games this year. Against RMU last time out, the Vikings went 25-for-31 from the free throw line (.806), marking the 14th time that Cleveland State has shot 80-percent or better this year.

As a team, Cleveland State has had one of the more efficient offenses this season, leading the Horizon League and ranking 12th among Division I teams with a .473 clip from the field on the year. The Vikings have shot 50-percent or better during nine games so far this season, including four times during #HLWBB play (at Wright State, at Detroit Mercy, at Milwaukee, Oakland). Cleveland State's .473 clip from the field, currently sits at the top of the CSU Single-Season Record Book, while the 75.1 points per game scoring average ranks fifth.
 
CLEVELAND STATE SECURES #HLWBB QUARTERFINAL HOME CONTEST
After picking up a win at Purdue Fort Wayne earlier this season, the Vikings clinched a home game during the Quarterfinal round of the 2025 Barbasol Horizon League Basketball Championships. Quarterfinal action will take place on Thursday, March 6 with the opponent and game time still to be determined.
 
HEAD COACH CHRIS KIELSMEIER
The Vikings will be under the direction of seventh-year head coach Chris Kielsmeier, who currently owns a career head coaching record of 563-183. At Cleveland State, Kielsmeier owns a record of 147-67, with his 100th victory as a Viking coming in a 95-41 decision over Chicago State last season. Under his guidance, Cleveland State has posted four 20-win seasons, including a program-record 30 wins during the 2023-24 campaign.
