TOLEDO, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team opened the weekend Saturday afternoon, dropping a 4-3 match at Toledo.
"This was a great college tennis match today, and although we were on the losing side, I thought the team showed good fight the entire match," head coach
Brian Etzkin said. "Doubles ended up being big, and we had opportunities with that point which is something we need to continue to work on. The bottom of our singles lineup was tough as nails today, and I'm looking forward to the progress that this team is making."
After dropping the doubles point, the Vikings then found themselves down 3-0 after the first two singles matches, with Cleveland State's first point of the day coming from
Maxime Aremon with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.

Devin Boyer 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles brought the score within one at 3-2, before
Cole Chappell knotted the match at 3-3 with a 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-4 victory at the No. 5 spot.
Toledo was then able to pull out a three-set win at No. 2 singles, clinching the 4-3 team match.
Cleveland State will continue the weekend at UIC tomorrow (Sunday, February 23).
