CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State claimed the Magnus Cup with 1,694 points, St. Bonaventure was second with 1,540.5 points, and Binghamton was third with 1,314 points.
The final evening of the midseason meet started with a runner-up finish by
Noah Lang in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:41.72.
The 100-yard IM saw two meet records occur on the day. In prelims,
Justin Schneider swam a 50.21 before
Alex Cucu topped it in finals with a 49.48. Schneider was the runner-up in finals with a 49.77.
Daniel Lyngaas (21.42) claimed second in the 50-yard butterfly, finishing .02 behind the winner.
The 200-yard backstroke went to
Noah Greer with a time of 1:47.85, while
Tanner Beck (1:49.80) placed sixth and
Landon Harman (1:50.75) in eighth.
Cleveland State had five of the top ten finishers in the 100-yard freestyle, including the second through fifth spots. Lyngaas had his second runner-up finish of the evening with a time of 44.41.
Aidan Florio put up a pair of meet records and then the school record in the finals of the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:56.72.
Tyler Schultze was right behind with a time of 1:56.76.
Cleveland State ended the evening with a meet record in the 400-yard freestyle as Lyngaas, Hudgens, Parkhurst, and Lanzo put up a time of 2:57.04.
The Vikings will now take a long break and not return to the pool until Saturday, January 10 at 2 p.m. against Niagara.
