NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team opened play at the Horizon League Individual Championship Friday, with Lincoln Battle advancing to the Quarterfinals of the Singles Draw and the doubles teams of Battle/Carl Gedlitschka and Cole Chappell/Nico Jamison earning a spot in the Quarterfinals of the doubles draw.

In singles, Battle went 2-0 on the day to earn a spot in Saturday's Quarterfinals, picking up wins against Will Ecklund of Belmont and Konner Gunwall of IU Indy.

In addition, Nico Jamison and Carl Gedlitschka each picked up a win in the opening round singles matches, Jamison over Brandon Pham of IU Indy and Gedlitschka over Chris Bogelin of Tennessee State.

Cleveland State had just one doubles team in action on Friday, with Cole Chappell and Jamison picking up an 8-6 victory over Tennessee State to earn a spot in the Quarterfinals. In addition, Battle and Gedlitschka earned a bye in the opening round, and will begin play in the quarterfinals tomorrow.
