CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team opened play at the Viking Invitational Friday, with
Carl Gedlitschka and
Devin Boyer both advancing to the third round of the main singles draw.
After getting byes into the second round, Gedlitschka and Boyer both picked up straight set wins in their matches Friday, Gedlitschka in a 6-1, 6-2 decision against Wayne State and Boyer with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Youngstown State.
Gedlitschka also picked up a win in his doubles match on Friday, teaming with
Maxime Aremon for a 6-3 victory over Duquesne to earn a spot in Saturday's quarterfinals.
Play at the Viking Invitational will continue tomorrow, with doubles matches beginning at 9:00 a.m.
