CHICAGO, Ill. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team continued play at the ITA Midwest Regionals Friday, with
Lincoln Battle advancing to the Round of 32 in the Main Singles Draw, and a pair of doubles teams earning a spot in the Round of 16.
The Vikings had three representatives in the Main Singles Draw, including
Cole Chappell and
Devin Boyer who both earned a spot in the draw by virtue of a lucky loser spot.
In addition,
Lincoln Battle was also playing in the Main Singles Draw, as he picked up a three-set victory over DePaul to earn a spot in the Round of 32 tomorrow morning.
Cleveland State had two doubles teams advance to the Round of 16 – which will be played tomorrow night – with Battle/
Carl Gedlitschka and Chappell/
Tristan Stine both earning a spot in the third round. Battle and Gedlitschka picked up a pair of wins over Illinois State and Illinois on the first day of doubles play, while Chappell and Stine earned a first round win over UIC before picking up a default win in the second round.
