AKRON, Ohio – Cleveland State won the Zips Classic on Saturday night after putting up a two-day score of 1193.5 points. Youngstown State was second with 938 points, and Xavier was third with 762.5 points.
The Vikings started the morning session strong as
Joe Parkhurst,
Jacopo Lanzo,
Justin Schneider, and
Daniel Lyngaas won the 200-yard freestyle with a meet record time of 1:21.42.
Cleveland State went first and second in the 400-yard IM behind
Aidan Florio with a time of 4:02.30 and
Brock Wallace with a 4:02.80.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Lanzo put up a winning time of 1:39.60, and the 100-yard breaststroke went to
Tyler Schultze with a meet record time of 54.59.
The final session started with the 200-yard medley relay team of
Jaden Davillier, Schultze, Schneider, and Lyngaas finishing as the runner-up with a time of 1:28.86.
The Green and White got second-place finishes from
Noah Lang in the 1650-yard freestyle after clocking a time of 15:54.25 and
Noah Greer in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:50.34.
Cleveland State claimed the top two spots in the 100-yard freestyle with Lyngaas' meet record time of 44.89 and Hudgens with a time of 45.29.
The Vikings took the top three spots in the 200-yard breaststroke behind Florio's meet record time of 1:59.46,
Gorkem Sulun 2:02.54, and Schultze 2:02.60.
In 1-meter diving, Austin took second with a score of 261.15 and Pearson was third with a score of 255.45.
Cleveland State will compete inside Busbey Natatorium for the first-time this year against St. Bonaventure on Friday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 25.
