Poughkeepsie, NY-The Cleveland State fencing teams closed out their second competition of the season at the Vassar Invitational on Sunday.
 
Both teams fenced a combined 15 bouts picking up two wins on the day. The men finished with a 1-7 record and the women finished 1-6. The final women's match of the day against Yale was canceled due to time constraints.
 
Both teams picked up victories over Hunter College. The men started the day with a win over Hunter in round one. Cleveland State won all three weapons including a 9-0 sweep in epee. The women's squad defeated Hunter in the seventh round. Cleveland State won saber and foil in taking 15 of the 18 bouts on the way to a 19-8 final score.
 
The fencing teams will hit the road once again for the UPenn Elite Invitational next weekend. The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 16.
