CLEVELAND – The Cleveland State men's basketball program and head coach Daniyal Robinson have officially announced the addition of JUCO transfer Tujautae "Tae" Williams to its roster for the 2022-23 campaign.
Williams arrives to Cleveland following a successful season at John A. Logan College. There the Chicago, Ill. native was named All-Conference and All-Region on a squad that made a run to the Sweet 16 in the NJCAA National Championships.
Williams played in all 32 games for the Vols, which included 28 starts, and registered averages of 12.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1 steal per contest. He also knocked down 47.7 percent of his attempts from the field.
"Tujautae "Tae" Williams is a competitive winner who plays with tons of energy," Robinson said. "Tae is very versatile and can play multiple positions. He is elite in transition and is a high-level defender. Tae's a winner. He's a two-time high school state champion and led his junior college to the national tournament. Tae has an infectious personality that will fit well with our team. We are very excited for Tae to be a Viking!"
Williams also competed for one year with Tennessee Tech in the Ohio Valley Conference and will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Vikings.
In high school, Williams led Orr Academy High School to three consecutive state titles as a sophomore, junior and senior. The program is just the fourth in IHSA history to capture three straight state championship crowns.
The newest member of the Vikes, who stands at 6'7 and 205 lbs., can contribute at both the guard and forward positions at CSU.
