UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Cleveland State men's fencing program concluded their portion of the 2021 NCAA Fencing Championships on Friday, as all three competitors picked up wins on the final day of the competition.
Sophomore Paul DiVenti ended his day with a win over Incarnate Word, finishing the men's foil competition in 21st place. Freshman Mason Moskowitz secured an early win against Stanford on day two, to finish in 22nd place in the men's saber competition. Freshman De'Mario Steele had wins against Incarnate Word, North Carolina and Sacred Heart on the final day to finish 24th in the men's epee competition.
In the final results, DiVenti led the team by finishing in 21st place in foil, followed by Moskowtiz finishing 22nd in saber, followed up Steele who finished 24th in epee.
The women's team will now prepare for their portion of the 2021 NCAA Championships, as action gets underway tomorrow (Saturday, March 27). Shelbie Seeberg is set to compete in foil, Dorian Pichola will compete in saber, while Amanda Provance will compete in epee.
Each of the women's events will feature previous world cup finalists, world champions, and Tokyo Olympic hopefuls.
Cleveland State is currently sitting at 14th in the overall team standings.
