Vikings Use Balanced Effort To Pick Up 65-42 Victory Over Lake Erie

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Behind a complete team effort, the Cleveland State women's basketball squad got back on the winning track Sunday afternoon, picking up a 65-42 victory over Lake Erie College. With the win, the Vikings improve to 2-3 on the season.

Game Stats
Nicolete Newman led the Vikings with 13 points, while Olivia Voskuhl added 11 points.
• Chrishna Buter posted seven points for the Viking offense, with the trio of Khayla Livingston, Shadae Bosley, and Mariah Miller all recording six points.
Alexis Eckles posted a team-best nine rebounds, including three offensive boards.
Khayla Livingston dished out six assists, while Nicolete Newman and Emily Stoller each added three helpers.
Olivia Voskuhl grabbed a team-best four steals, while the Vikings recorded 12 as a team.
• The Vikings shot 40-percent from the field, and recorded 16 total assists as a team.

Game Notes
• Sunday's victory marked the 175th of head coach Kate Peterson Abiad's tenure.
• The Vikings now own a perfect 6-0 record against Lake Erie.
• Following her 13-point performance, Nicolete Newman has now posted double-digit points in all but one game this season.
• After posting one of Cleveland State's two blocked shots against the Storm, Alexis Eckles has 53 on her career, just four blocks shy of earning a spot in the CSU Career Record book top-10.
• All 12 Vikings saw game action against Lake Erie, with all 12 players getting in the scoring column, and 11 of the 12 grabbing at least one rebound.

The Game
• Cleveland State led the contest from wire-to-wire, posting their first point of the game on an Alexis Eckles free throw, and recording their final points of the game on a Chrishna Butler layup.
• The Vikings were able to hold a double-digit lead for the majority of the contest, including a game-high 25-point advantage multiple times.
• Cleveland State held the Storm to single digits during both the first and second quarters, taking a 32-15 lead into the halftime break.

• Cleveland State will take part in the Navy Tournament, facing Navy on Saturday, Dec. 3 and Richmond on Sunday, Dec. 4. Both games will take place at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
