CHICAGO, Ill. - Despite double-digits from both Shalonda Winton and Janelle Adams, the Cleveland State women's basketball team fell at UIC, 72-50. The Vikings are now 9-15 on the season and 4-9 in league play, while the Flames improve to 15-9 and 8-5.

Winton led the way for the Vikings, posting her 12th double-double of the season, as she tallied 16 points and 11 rebounds. Adams posted her fourth double-digit scoring game of the season against the Flames, recording 10 points, three assists and two steals.

During the opening half the Vikings held a lead just once, following a Winton three-pointer at the 11:52 mark (12-10), and they went into halftime trailing by seven at 34-21.

The two teams traded baskets during the opening minutes of the second half, until the Flames were able to post seven straight points to extend their lead to 44-30 with 13:54 left to play. The Vikings made a push at the 9:47 mark, as they went on a 6-2 run closing the gap to 57-41. During that span CSU got two points from Winton, Adams and Kaila Montgomery.

Over the final 6:28 UIC outscored the Vikings 15-9, earning the 72-50 victory. Seven of CSU's final nine points came from Winton, as she was Cleveland State's leading scorer for the 14th time this season.

As a team the Vikings shot 33-percent from the floor (18-54), while UIC shot 46-percent (30-65). CSU tallied 11 assists on their 18 made field goals though, led by Cori Coleman who notched a career-high four and Adams with three.

Cleveland State returns to action next weekend as they Vikings host Green Bay and Milwaukee. CSU will face Green Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 16) and Milwaukee at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 18).
