WEEKEND PREVIEW
The Cleveland State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will have their busiest weekend of the young season this weekend, with two meets in a two-day stretch. CSU will first travel to Columbus, Ohio Friday night where they will take on the Ohio State Buckeyes and Keyon College. The meet will be a challenge on both fronts, with Ohio State an annual Big Ten Conference contender and Kenyon a Division III swimming national power. That meet will take place tonight, Friday, October 26, at 6:00 p.m.
Bouncing back quickly, the Vikings will be back home and in the pool tomorrow afternoon at 12:15 p.m. as they take on Gannon and Niagara. This meet will be the first home competition for the men and women together this season, with the men already participating in the CSU Dual Sprint Classic against John Carroll.
REVIEWING THE LAST TIME OUT
Both the Viking men and women were able to take down Green Bay in their last meet. Here is a recap of those contests.
MEN
The Viking men took down Green Bay 140-100 on the road. The team won all but two events, the 1-meter dive and 400 IM, to earn their first league victory of the year. Senior Berry Thompson helped lead the way for CSU, winning the 50 free (21.07) and 100 free (45.67), as well as being a member of the winning 400 freestyle relay team (3:08.59) with Justin Hill, Alex Cohara, and Alex Lewis. Thompson's 100 free broke the Green Bay pool record. Al Shillito, who earned the Horizon League `Swimmer of the Week' honor for his efforts, was another strong performer for the road team. The junior won the 200 butterfly (1:53.43), 200 back (1:56.03), and was on the winning 400 medley relay team (3:25.85). Shillito's win in the 200 butterfly, and subsequent second place finish in the same race by senior teammate Mark de Swardt, was the first time de Swardt had lost a Horizon League dual meet race in his career. Despite the loss in the butterfly, de Swardt was able to come back and win both the 500 free (4:42.82) and 1,000 free (9:49.08) for CSU.

WOMEN
The women's team was also able to get a big win on the road against Green Bay, taking them down 136-107. Horizon League `Swimmer of the Week' Joanna Olsson once again led the way for the Vikings, on her way to three first place finishes. Olsson was able to help win the 400 medley relay (3:56.11), the 400 IM (4:32.92) and 200 butterfly (2:07.19). Although she was honored, she wasn't the only performer who stepped up as the team won all but four events against the perennial conference power Phoenix. Alice Sommerville and Alexandra Johannson were two other top finishers with three wins each. Both joined Olsson andChristine Kopacko on the winning 400 medley relay team. They also each won two other events, with Sommerville taking the 50 free (24.50) and 400 free relay (3:33.89), and Johannson placing first in both the 100 free (52.71) and 200 breast (2:23.92).
