YPSILANTI, Mich. - Stephaine Crosley scored a career-high 16 points and Kailey Klein added a double-double, but Cleveland State had its three-game win streak snapped with a 73-61 setback at Eastern Michigan on Tuesday night.

CSU slipped to 5-6 with the loss, while the Eagles improved to 9-2.

Crosley, whose previous career-high was 15 points in her first career collegiate game in 2006, hit 8-of-14 from the field, adding eight rebounds and three steals. She continued her strong play of late despite battling flu-like symptoms and missing practice on Monday.

Klein finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Shawnita Garland added 14 points, six rebounds. She also recorded a career-high nine steals and tied her career-high with seven assists.

CSU struggled from the floor all night, hitting just 24-of-74 (.324), including just 3-of-20 (.150) from three-point.

EMU didn't fare much better, shooting .352 (25-71), but the Eagles hit 9-of-25 (.360) from three-point, including 8-of-15 (.533) in the second half.

The Eagles jumped out to a quick nine point lead (14-5) less than six minutes in to take quick control of the contest. However, a 15-6 CSU run over the next 10 minutes allowed the Vikings to tie the game at 20-20, the first of three ties in the first stanza.

The Vikings took their first lead of the game on a Klein layup with 4:38 to play in the first half with 4:38 showing on the clock. But the Eagles responded with six straight points, regaining a 30-24 lead with 1:55 left.

Shawnita Garland concluded the first half with back-to-back layups for the Vikings, slicing the EMU halftime lead to 30-28.

The Eagles scored five quick points to open the second half scoring, but two free throws by Garland with 17:54 left brought the Vikings back within two points.

Leading by five with 14:15 to play, the Eagles went on to hit three consecutive three-pointers to open up a 14 point lead (53-39; 11:06).

CSU would get no closer than six points the rest of the night, that coming with 2:50 left in the game on a jumper by Janelle Adams.

Neither team shot particularly well in the first half, combining to hit 23-of-75 from the field and just 2-for-18 from three-point.

However, both teams were very active as the Vikings grabbed 13 offensive rebounds, while EMU had 14.

EMU finished with 62 rebounds, including 29 on the offensive end. CSU grabbed 45, with 22 on the offensive end. The Vikings also forced 21 turnovers, making 15 steals, while turning the ball over just 15 times.

The Vikings will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 2, when CSU opens its 18 game Horizon League schedule with a 3:00 p.m. contest against 20th-ranked Green Bay in the Wolstein Center. The Phoenix will enter the contest with an unblemished record, having won their first 11 games to open the season.
