TOLEDO, Ohio - Cleveland State's struggles -- both on the road and in the first half -- continued in a 76-61 loss at Toledo on Saturday evening. The defeat drops the Vikings to 2-6 on the year while the Rockets improve to 3-4.

"We obviously weren't ready to play tonight," CSU head coach Kate Peterson said. "With such a young team we have to learn how to be mentally tough and ready to go from the opening tip -- especially on the road."

As has been the case all year long, the Vikings were slow out of the gates. Trailing 8-5 four minutes into the game, CSU proceeded to go eight minutes without scoring as the Rockets opened up a 25-5 bulge with 8:02 left in the stanza. The Vikings, who shot just 30 percent in the first 20 minutes, could get no closer than 16 as Toledo shot a torrid 53 percent from the floor.

One of the few highlights in the half came at the 8:22 mark when Brittany Korth nailed a three-pointer to extend CSU's consecutive games streak with at least one triple to 394. The run matches Louisville's NCAA record mark which came to a close in 2004-05.

The Vikings opened the second half with an 8-0 flurry over the first three minutes to cut the deficit to 43-32. Unfortunately that would be as close as CSU would get, as Toledo was able to keep the Vikings at bay with numerous easy baskets in the paint to win for the 11th time in the last 12 meetings.

The Rockets shot 52.7 percent from the floor for the game, while limiting CSU to a 33.3 percent effort. Toledo also held a 45-36 advantage on the boards.

Dominique Butler and Jessica Roque led the Vikings with 12 points each, while Butler led the team with six rebounds.

Savannah Werner paced the Rockets with a game-high 15 points and six rebounds, while Nacole Stocks tallied eight points and 10 assists.

Cleveland State will attempt to set a new NCAA record on Monday (Dec. 4) when the Vikings host St. Bonaventure at 7:00 p.m.
