ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio's Lauren Kohn scored a game-high 30 points and the Bobcats shot 53 percent  (32-60) from the field as Cleveland State fell, 87-64, in its first road game of the season. The loss sends the Vikings to 0-3 on the season while Ohio improves to 2-0.

Kohn made 10 of 14 shots from the floor, including 4-of-6 from three-point range, and 6-of-8 free throws. Eighteen of her points came in the first half on 6-of-8 shooting.

CSU hung tough in the early minutes, pulling within 18-14 early after junior Robyn Hoying scored eight straight points, but Ohio pulled ahead with a 19-4 run over the final 4:42 of the first half to lead, 44-24, at halftime. Ohio forced 12 CSU turnovers in the first half and shot 17-for-31 (55 percent). The Bobcats also enjoyed an 18-13 rebounding edge in the first stanza.

"We got down a little early, but we were able to get back for a moment in the early part of the game," head coach Kate Peterson said. "We just kind of collapsed at the end of the first half."

Ohio would put the Vikings away with a 27-10 run early in the second half that gave the Bobcats their largest lead at 73-46 with 11:53 remaining. CSU would go on a 17-5 run to cut the lead to 78-53 with just under six minutes left. The Vikings would get no closer than 22 in the final minutes.

"We need to become a better defensive team," Peterson said. "We are struggling to get stops and we're giving up way too many points."

Freshman Stephaine Crosley led three Vikings in double figures with 12 points while freshman Jessica Roque and Hoying added 10 apiece. Senior Nicole Thomas had nine points, a team-high 11 rebounds and three steals.

Ohio's Simone Redd had 24 points while Rachel Frederick and Quintana Ward each had 10. Frederick grabbed 11 rebounds and Ward added seven assists.

The Vikings return home to host Colgate on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 7:00 p.m.
