Despite a career-high 16 points from senior forward Jill Barnbrook, Cleveland State (1-8) dropped a 62-56 decision at Ohio (3-6) on Sunday evening. The Vikings led 32-28 at the half thanks to a 55.1 percent (15-29) effort from the floor. However, CSU made just 28.1 (9-32) percent of its shots in the final 20 minutes.
The Vikings shot just 1-for-17 (5.9 percent) from behind the three-point arc, while Ohio knocked down 14 of its 16 free throws (87.5 percent). The Bobcats entered the game shooting just 59 percent from the line for the season.
Sophomore forward Keena Rembert added nine points and six rebounds for CSU.
Quintana Ward and Simone Redd paced Ohio with 15 and 14 points respectively.
Cleveland State is in action again on Dec. 22 when the Vikings travel to Youngstown State for a 7:00 p.m. contest. The game with the Penguins is CSU's earliest league opener ever.
