CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State golf team will be back in action this week, traveling to Northern Kentucky for the NKU Jewell Invitational on Monday, April 6 and Tuesday, April 7.
This will be the third of six events for the Vikings this spring, and the first of four straight tournaments during the month of April.
Cleveland State will be one of 14 teams competing, including nine of the 10 Horizon League teams. The NKU Jewell Invitational, which will be held at Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio, will feature an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start with 36 holes on Monday and a final 18 holes on Tuesday.
For the third time this spring the Viking lineup will feature
Brody Simms,
Dillon Pendergast,
Dominik Cosic,
Ryan Dinan, and
Trace Gibson, while
Ben Scheeff and
Gavin Leen will be playing as individuals.
Through the first two tournaments the Vikings have combined for three top-30 individual finishes, while they combined for a ninth place team finish at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate last time out.
So far this spring, the Vikings have claimed Horizon League Golfer of the Week honors in each of the first two weeks that they have competed, with Simms picking up the first honor and Pendergast earning the accolade last time out.
