CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State Athletics has announced that head men's and women's fencing coach
Jennifer Oldham has resigned to pursue other opportunities. Cleveland State will conduct a national search for the head coach position.
"I want to thank Coach Oldham for her leadership and commitment to our men's and women's fencing programs during her time at Cleveland State," Vice President and Director of Athletics
Kelsie Gory Harkey said. "We are thankful for Coach Oldham's dedication to providing a transformational student-athlete experience and her commitment to elevating Cleveland State at the conference and national level. Our goal is to build on this foundation, and continue mentoring champions in the classroom, in the community and through competition within our fencing programs."
Oldham has been at Cleveland State since January of 2024, spending two complete seasons at the helm of both the men's and women's fencing programs. During her tenure, Cleveland State's
Jesse Ndjeka captured the program's first-ever CCFC individual title while qualifying for back-to-back NCAA Championships, 25 fencers qualified for NCAA Regional competition, and the Vikings combined for 12 CCFC postseason honors.
"During my tenure, I am proud to have helped transform the program by elevating performance standards, strengthening team culture, and positioning it for sustained success," Oldham said. "I will continue my professional involvement within the USA Fencing community while carrying forward the relationships and experiences built at Cleveland State. Academically, both the men's and women's teams have posted a 3.20 grade point average or better in each of the semesters that Oldham has been at the helm, with the women currently sitting at a 3.40 cumulative GPA and the men standing at 3.37. Over four complete semesters, both programs have combined for 42 President's or Dean's List honors while posting 15 perfect 4.0 GPAs.
