EVANSTON, Ill. – The Cleveland State fencing teams competed in their final tune-up before the CCFC Championships Sunday, participating in the Schiller Duals hosted by Northwestern.
On the men's side, the Vikings picked up wins against Detroit Mercy (21-6) and Wheaton (17-10), while the women earned a 17-2 victory over Wheaton.
Individually, four men finished with double-digit wins on the day, while three women eclipsed the double-digit win mark.
For the men,
Marcus Strugar posted a team-best 11 wins in foil, while
Simon Caisse and
Jamison Horne both recorded 10 wins in sabre, and
Trent Chemezov added 10 wins in epee.
On the women's side,
Anna Klimenko had a team-high 14 wins in epee, while
Rayllen Prafil Capaccio added 11 wins – also in epee – with
Aubrey Testroet posting 11 wins in sabre.
The Vikings will now be off from competition until February 21-22 when Cleveland State competes at the CCFC Championship in Granville, Ohio.
