CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team will return home to host a two-game Horizon League series this weekend, hosting Northern Kentucky on Friday, October 2 and Wright State on Saturday, October 3.
This weekend's matches will mark the first time that the Vikings are hosting #HLVB contests inside Woodling Gymnasium this season, and will be just the fourth and fifth home matches of the year.
After opening league play last weekend, Cleveland State enters the weekend with an 0-2 record, while Wright State and Northern Kentucky are both 2-0 after the first #HLVB weekend.
Through 13 matches played so far this season, the Vikings continue to lead the league in service aces, averaging 2.00 aces per set. With 102 total aces on the year, Cleveland State is the only league team to have 100+ on the year.
Individually,
Jazen DeBina is averaging a league-best 0.53 aces per set, while
Addison Koppelman and
Fiona Cooper are tied for fifth averaging 0.41 aces per set. All three have now eclipsed the 20-ace mark for the season, with DeBina posting a team-best 24 service aces.
JeriLynn Koehler enters the weekend ranked ninth in the CSU Career Record Book with 60 solo blocks after combining for three last weekend. Koehler is now just one block shy of moving into eighth place on the list, and is one of just nine Vikings all-time to reach 60 solo blocks on their career.
Koehler also enters the weekend just one kill shy of 500 for her career. Averaging 1.47 kills per set this season, Koehler has combined for 72 total kills, including a season-best 10 kills against Akron in the non-league finale.
Vayda Delventhal enters the second part of the season tracking down 1,000 career digs, currently sitting at 870 through the first 13 matches of the season. For the year, Delventhal is averaging 3.75 digs per set, and has tallied three 20-dig performances on the year.
