QUICK SETS
The Cleveland State volleyball team will continue its 2025 slate with a trio of matches this week, as part of the CSU Invitational. The Vikings will open the week by hosting Akron on Wednesday, September 3, before welcoming American (Friday, September 5) and ETSU (Saturday, September 6).

Fans can park in the East Garage - which is adjacent to the PE Building - for $10/car. Fans will pay upon entry to the garage.Â

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
Cleveland State's three matches this week will mark the first of a 13-match home slate for the Vikings this season, as they will be calling Woodling Gymnasium home once again. In addition to nine #HLVB matches that the Vikings will host this season, they will also play four non-league contests inside Woodling Gymnasium.

#HLVB BANNER UNVEILING
Prior to Wednesday's contest against Akron, the Vikings will be unveiling their 2024 Horizon League Tournament Champions and NCAA Tournament Appearance banners. This will mark the sixth time that the Vikings will be unveiling a #HLVB tournament championship banner inside Woodling Gymnasium.

LAST TIME OUT…
The Vikings opened the 2025 campaign at the Rumble in the Rockies, facing Colorado, Tulsa and host Wyoming. This marked the second trip to the state of Wyoming in program history for the Vikings.

AGAINST THE FIELD
Wednesday's match against Akron will be the 45th meeting between the two teams, with CSU holding a 24-20 edge in the all-time series, including a pair of wins over the Zips last year. Friday's matchup against American will be the first in program history, while Saturday's contest against ETSU will mark the third meeting between the two teams, with CSU owning a 2-0 advantage in the series.

NEW LOOK VIKINGS
This year's edition of the Vikings features just eight returners from last year's team, while they are joined by seven newcomers. This newcomer group includes six true freshmen and one senior transfer.

VIKING DEBUTS
Six of the seven newcomers made their Cleveland State debuts last weekend, including
Bryn VanVleet and
Madisyn Green who played in all nine sets for the Vikings. In addition,
Matilda Dahlstrom,
Magaly Lemus,
Danica McArthur, and
Isabella Gibbons also made their Viking debuts.

DELVENTHAL LEADING THE VIKING DEFENSE
Sophomore
Vayda Delventhal played as Cleveland State's libero for the first time in her collegiate career last weekend, pacing the Viking defense with 44 combined digs. Delventhal, who averaged 1.87 digs per set as a primary part of CSU's defense last season, is taking over the libero role from
Emma Walker who graduated last year as Cleveland State's all-time digs leader.

SALAZAR & GIBBONS TO LEAD VIKING OFFENSE
For the second straight season Cleveland State will be playing with a new setter, as redshirt-freshman
Allison Salazar and true freshman
Isabella Gibbons both saw action in the role last weekend. Gibbons averaged 5.43 assists per set, while Salazar averaged 5.00 assists per set on the weekend.

VOSS CLOSING IN ON 1,000 CAREER KILLS
After combining for 14 kills over the opening weekend of play, senior
Laken Voss is closing in on 1,000 career kills, entering the second weekend of the 2025 campaign with 934 total kills. Voss, who currently ranks ninth in the CSU Career Record Book with 3,429 total attempts, would be the second Viking in as many years to reach the 1,000-kill milestone.

VIKINGS ENTER 2025 AS REIGNING #HLVB CHAMPIONS
Cleveland State entered the 2025 campaign as the reigning Horizon League Tournament Champions, capturing the program's sixth tournament title last year. The Vikings picked up wins against IU Indy, Milwaukee and Green Bay during #HLVB tournament play, earning their sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament.

…TABBED FOURTH IN #HLVB PRESEASON POLL
Prior to the 2025 campaign starting, the Vikings were tabbed to finish fourth in the #HLVB Preseason Poll. Earning 65 points and a pair of first-place votes, Cleveland State finished behind league favorite Wright State, Milwaukee, and Green Bay.

HEAD COACH CHUCK VOSS
Chuck Voss is in his 26th season at the helm of the Vikings, and owns a 430-306 (.584) overall record at Cleveland State. Under Voss the Vikings have recorded 19 winning seasons, including a streak of 10 straight from 2009-2018. Cleveland State has eclipsed the 20-win mark nine times since Voss took over the program, and has captured Horizon League Tournament titles six times under his guidance.

LOOKING AHEAD
Cleveland State will return to the road for the NC State Tournament next weekend, facing Coastal Carolina, Duke and the host Wolfpack throughout the three-day tournament (September 12-14).
