CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State women's tennis student-athletes
Ella Franz and
Laura Tapia have received a wildcard into the WTA Tennis In The Land Tournament, earning a spot in the 16-team doubles draw.
Franz and Tapia will begin play with a Round of 16 match in the doubles draw, with a date and time to be determined.
Tennis In The Land – a WTA 250 event – runs August 16-23 and takes place at the Nautica Entertainment Complex in the West Bank of the Flats in downtown Cleveland. Single session tickets for the event are
on sale now.
Franz, an incoming senior, is one of the best doubles players in program history, setting the career doubles wins record with
Tereze Vevere last season, and enters the 2025-26 campaign closing in on the individual doubles wins record. Tapia, an incoming freshman, joins the Vikings from Spain.
