CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association announced its 23
rd annual Scholar-Athlete team Wednesday, with Cleveland State graduate student
Sara Guerreiro earning a spot on the 11-member team.
Guerreiro, who is a two-time Horizon League All-Academic Team honoree, graduated Summa Cum Laude in Mechanical Engineering in Spring 2024 and is currently pursuing her masters degree in the same field with a 4.00 grade point average.
On the court, Guerreiro helped the Vikings to their fourth straight 20-win season and fifth straight postseason appearance, earning Horizon League Third Team and All-Defensive Team honors along with a spot on the WNIT All-Tournament Team.
During her final year of collegiate eligibility, Guerreiro averaged 11.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game, while shooting 51-percent from the field. The Portugal native finished the year ranked in multiple categories in the CSU Single-Season Record Book; Defensive Rebounds (2
nd-244), Free Throw Percentage (3
rd-.885), Minutes Played (6
th-1,208), and total Rebounds (7
th-288).
Guerreiro finished her career with over 850 points and 625+ rebounds, including 602 total boards during her time at Cleveland State to rank 19
th on the All-Time Rebounds list.
Basketball players from all Division I-AAA ADA member institutions are eligible for the Scholar-Athlete team if they meet the following criteria: Minimum grade point average of 3.20; Starter or important reserve with legitimate athletics credentials; Junior academic standing at their respective institution.
