ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team had it's 2025 spring campaign come to end Sunday, as the Vikings dropped a hard fought 4-1 match against Youngstown State in the Horizon League Championship match.
The Vikings were making their seventh appearance in the #HLTennis championship contest.
Cleveland State picked up the doubles point against the Penguins, with
Tereze Vevere and
Ella Franz picking up a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles and
Filippa Frogner and
Jenna Redmile earning a 6-3 victory at the No. 3 spot.
The Penguins responded by picking up four straight singles points, earning wins at No. 1, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles.
With their doubles win today, Vevere and Franz finished their doubles career with a program record 66 doubles wins, while Vevere also finished as the program record holder with 89 career singles wins.
Oihane Vicario finished her career ranked second on the all-time singles wins list with 85 victories, while
Sima Heren closed out her collegiate career ranked third with 83 singles wins.
Cleveland State finished the year with a 13-10 record on the season.
