Indianapolis, IN-The Cleveland State men's golf team is tied for seventh after the first two rounds of the Don Benbow Spring Invitational as the Vikings posted an 18-over par team total. Cleveland State is tied with Indian Hills Community College and Youngstown State. Host Butler leads the tournament at 6-under through 36 holes.
Brody Simms was the low scorer of the day for Cleveland State. Simms is tied for 10
th place individually at even par. Butler's Will Horne leads the individual race at 5-under par. Simms posted a 2-over 72 in round one followed by a 2-under 68 in the second round to finish the day at level par. He recorded three birdies against one bogey in round two to finish at 2-under.
Andrew Kaye posted a 4-over total and is tied for 30
th in the individual race. Kaye carded matching rounds of 2-over 72 for a 36-hole total of 144.
Mason Frazier is tied for 55
th at 7-over. Frazier finished with scores of 73 and 74 on the first day of play.
Rounding out the Cleveland State lineup,
Dillon Pendergast is tied for 85
th at 12-over and
Dominik Cosic is tied for 88
th at 13-over. Pendergast carded a 1-over 71 in the first round before posting an 81 in round two. Cosic finished his day with rounds of 77-76.
Three Cleveland State student-athletes competed as individuals.
Alex Anderson is tied for 71
st at 9-over. He posted a 76 in the first round and improved on that total with a 73 in the second round.
Ryan Dinan is tied for 82
nd at 11-over par after posting scores of 77-74.
Ben Scheeff is tied for 92
nd at 14-over with scores of 81-73.
Dinan finished tied for third in the field at 2-under on the par-5's through two rounds. Anderson is tied for seventh in the field with seven total birdies through 36 holes. The Vikings as a team finished tied for sixth in the field with 116 total pars.
