Detroit, MI-The Cleveland State fencing teams wrapped up the Central Collegiate Fencing Conference Championship at Wayne State on Sunday with the individual competition.
Maia Taylor Casamayor and
De'Mario Steele each placed third in the epee competitions to highlight the day for CSU.

Taylor Casamayor was the sixth seed of eight after the pool play round in women's epee. She won her first bout 15-10 against third seed Emma Ning of Northwestern to advance to the semifinals where she fell to the no. 2 seed and eventual champion Gloria Klughardt of Ohio State.

Taylor Casamayor advanced to the final round thanks to four victories in six bouts in the second round of pool play to earn one of the eight spots in the finals.

Steele earned the no. 7 seed in the men's epee final bracket and won his first bout defeating second seed Ayush Shah of Ohio State 15-12. He fell in the semifinal round to Ohio State's Nowell Gibson.

Steele advanced to the finals after winning three of his five bouts to finish in a tie for seventh place after the second round of pool play.

Other finishers for the Vikings included

th) in men's foil.
Simon Caisse finished 14
th and
Conner Bailey placed 17
th in men's saber.

On the women's side,
Anna Quinn (18

th) represented the women's foil side.
Aubrey Testroet and
Samantha Way placed 14
th and 15
th respectively in women's saber, with Addie Mantoan placing 23
rd.

Cleveland State will next compete at NCAA Regionals coming up in March with qualifiers announced at a later date.
