Vevere Ties CSU Singles Wins Record Against Slippery Rock

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team opened up a busy stretch Wednesday afternoon, coming up short in a 4-3 contest against Slippery Rock playing with a shorthanded lineup.

Playing with just four players in the match, Cleveland State picked up points from a trio of singles wins, as Sima Heren, Tereze Vevere and Filippa Frogner earned wins.

With a 7-6(3), 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles, Vevere tied the CSU Singles Wins Record with 79 career victories, and now needs just one more win to stand alone at the top of the record book.

Heren picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, marking her third straight win at the top of the lineup, while Frogner picked up a 6-3, 7-5 victory at the No. 4 spot.

Cleveland State will be back in action tomorrow, hosting Mercyhurst at 4:00 p.m. inside the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
