Dayton, OH-The Cleveland State men's golf team sits in tenth place in the team standings after the first two rounds of its final fall tournament of the season. Cleveland State is 28-over par through two rounds. Butler leads the team race at 3-over par. The Vikings finished at 19-over par in the opening round on NCR Country Club's South Course and improved by ten strokes in the second round finishing at 9-over par.
Brody Simms is once again in the top ten in the individual standings sitting at even par for the tournament. Simms posted a 3-over 74 in the first round before improving by six strokes in his second round with a 3-under 68. Simms finished strong in his final nine holes of the day carding three birdies and no bogeys for a 3-under 32 on the back nine. Simms is tied for eighth place and trails leader Derek Tabor of Butler by nine shots. Simms is looking for his fourth top ten in five fall events.
Dominik Cosic is tied for 24
th after 36 holes at 5-over par. Cosic posted an even par round of 71 to start the day before closing with a 5-over 76 in the afternoon. Cosic finished the day with seven total birdies.
Trace Gibson is 57
th and
Ryan Dinan is in 60
th place. Gibson sits at 11-over par after rounds of 79-74, Dinan is 12-over after posting scores of 79-75. Gibson totaled four birdies and Dinan finished the day with three.
Ben Scheeff, playing as an individual, is in 80
th place at 24-over par.
Dillon Pendergast was unable to complete his first round.
The third and final round will take place tomorrow morning with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
