CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (0-4, 0-2) began its busy weekend with a 29-13 loss to George Mason (11-3, 6-0) on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings will hop on a bus and head to CMU for a match tomorrow at 2 p.m.
The Patriots claimed the opening three points with a 13-9 decision at 125-pounds. The Vikings answered, taking their first lead of the day, 4-3, as Nick Molchak recorded a 12-3 major decision at 133-pounds.
Ethan Mitchell pinned his opponent in 1:32 as the Green and White advantage extended to 10-3. However, the next two matches went to GMU by decision as the margin was down to one.
A pair of falls and a technical fall for the visitors put them ahead on the scoreboard, 26-10. Joey Lyons picked up an 8-3 decision at 197-pounds to make it 26-13 in favor of the visitors.
At heavyweight, No. 25 Daniel Bucknavich suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 decision in triple sudden death as the Vikings dropped the conference match, 29-13.
