CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team opened its spring campaign Friday, dropping a hard fought 4-3 decision against Marshall.
Cleveland State's three points came during singles play, as
Oihane Vicario,
Sima Heren and
Ella Franz all picked up wins. Vicario earned a 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 win at the top of the lineup, while Heren posted a 3-6, 7-6(5), 1-0(6) win at the No. 2 spot and Franz picked up a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles.
With her win on Friday, Vicario moved into a tie for third place on the CSU Singles Wins List with 74 career victories.
Despite dropping the doubles point, Cleveland State's top doubles team of Vicario and Heren picked up a 6-3 win at the top of the lineup.
The Vikings will continue the opening weekend of the 2025 spring schedule tomorrow, hosting Dayton at 11:00 a.m.
