INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Cleveland State University men's soccer received two Horizon League special awards as
Bojan Kolevski was named Player of the Year for the second time in his career and
Matteo Correia earned Freshman of the Year recognition.
The Vikings also had one named All-League First Team, three on the All-League Second Team, and one on the All-League Third Team.
BOJAN KOLEVSKI | PLAYER OF THE YEAR | FIRST TEAM ALL-LEAGUE
Bojan Kolevski, a graduate from Skopje, North Macedonia, became the fifth player in program history to be named Player of the Year, and second in program history to earn the award multiple times. This is his fourth All-League honor and second First Team recognition.
After missing half the season a year ago due to injury, the two-time captain started all 16 games this season at forward. He led the team in assists with six and was second in goals (6) and points (18). In addition, he received one weekly Horizon League award. Off the field, Kolevski was named All-Academic for a third time.
MATTEO CORREIA | FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR | SECOND TEAM ALL-LEAGUE
Matteo Correia becomes the program's first-ever Freshman of the Year. The Toronto, Canada, native played in 15 games with ten starts in the midfield. Correia tallied nine goals which led the team and was second in the league. Of those goals, five were in league games, tying for first in the Horizon.
Correia topped the team in points with 21 which was tied for second in the league. In conference games, he had a league-best 13 points. He was named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week twice this season.
KYLE FOLDS | SECOND TEAM ALL-LEAGUE
Kyle Folds, a graduate from Berea, Ohio, earned Second Team honors for a second straight season. Folds started all 16 games at center-back for a second consecutive season. As the anchor of the backline, the Green and White had two shutouts.
MARKO RIMAC | SECOND TEAM ALL-LEAGUE
Marko Rimac, a senior from Kirtland, Ohio, received Second Team recognition for the first time in his career. The midfielder started all 15 games that he appeared in, scoring five goals and adding two assists. His five tallies came in league play which was tied for the best in the Horizon League.
TOM MERTZ | THIRD TEAM ALL-LEAGUE
Tom Mertz, a freshman from Baden-Wurrtember, Germany, started all 16 games as a central holding midfielder. Mertz completed his first regular season with two goals and five assists for nine points. Of those totals, he had one goal and four assists in league matches. Mertz also helped the Vikings to two shutouts.
